 Avery and Gramps Mexican Dining Adventures
4852 Sawmill Road, Columbus, Ohio "Gramps and I went to Chili Verde Café. The chips and salsa served were fresh and very good. I had a Traditional Enchilada with shredded beef and Gramps had the Traditional Chimichanga with shredded beef. I thought my Enchilada was OK; The meat was well seasoned but the spicy sauce called Chile Verde that I ordered wasn't as spicy as I had hoped. Gramps thought his Chimichanga was great. The outer crust was crispy enough and the filling was seasoned very well. The rice was fluffy and nicely seasoned and the beans were mostly whole, unlike most refried beans. This was definitely an improvement over other restaurants' attempts at these. We loved the fudge brownie that we shared for dessert. It was rich and full of chocolate flavor. I recommend this dessert. All the servers were fun and helpful. The restaurant was clean, but the decorations were not what I expected for a Mexican restaurant. However, the atmosphere was warm and friendly; everyone was having a good time and that always adds to the fun of having dinner with my Gramps. When I blew the paper from my straw I missed Gramps and it went into the next booth. Luckily, I didn't hit anyone though. Overall, I think Chili Verde was better than other Mexican eateries I have been to so far.
